New Online Booking Service Seeks Acts

Monday, April 30th, 2007

A new website service has just been launched to promote Australian musicians and entertainers.

A fresh concept in online entertainment booking, GoDirectEntertainment.com.au enables corporate and private event organisers to contact and book an act directly without any agent or middleman involved. Based on a pay per lead principle, artists only pay a small fee if they choose to accept a booking enquiry.

Each act listed on the site has a comprehensive bio and song list, and the ability to list up to 5 sound samples and a video clip – all the information needed for a website visitor to select an act that they feel is suitable for their event.

The GoDirect Entertaiment booking system gives flexibility and freedom not found with the traditional booking agent arrangement. For example,

* You decide which enquiries to accept.
* Have all the information on hand direct from the buyer.
* You decide on your fee. Negotiate direct with the buyer.
* Fee quoted remains confidential.
* No booking agency commission is attached, thus making your fee very competitive.
* Receive payment direct from buyer.
* Payment terms and conditions can be in your specified time and format.
* Permits you to promote special deals direct, one-on-one with buyer.
* Establish a business relationship with enquirer for future bookings.
* Receive Local, National and International enquiries.

How does it work?
A summary of each booking enquiry is emailed directly to the act immediately it is placed.

Should the act decide to accept the enquiry, a small fee ($10) is payable, and the full contact details are then supplied for the act to follow up. Should the act be already booked on the particular date, or not be interested for some other reason, they may decline the enquiry and no fee is payable.

This is proving to be a simple and cost effective method for bands and entertainers to receive well-qualified booking enquiries from sources that they would not normally be able to access.

The site’s audience is both corporate event organisers and the general public for private functions.

Additionally, the website is to be heavily promoted to pubs and clubs as a means of sourcing variety in the acts they book. It is thought that this will appeal particularly to smaller venues which generally prefer to book directly with the artist rather than via an agent.

Artist Applications
Applications are currently being sought from acts of all types that are able to supply professional quality bio material.

Fogsongs Music Signs WA writer from The Woodenelves

Thursday, April 19th, 2007

Fogsongs Music Publishing has recently signed Travis Caudle - principal song writer for Perth band The Woodenelves to a worldwide publishing agreement.

After wrapping up the recording of the bands debut album Trips Between Worlds (produced by Tim Powles of the Church) in 2006, The Woodenelves finished the year with a coveted slot as the house band on ROVE LIVE. The episode was the last of 2006 and also featured U2 and Deni & Marcia Hines.

Earlier in 2006, the four-piece rock act took out two national songwriting awards for two tracks off the album – “A Little Bit of Me” won the rock/indie category and “What It Is” won the contemporary pop/dance category of the Australian Songwriters Association awards and flew to Sydney to take part in the awards ceremony.

As well as producing the album, Powles’ drumming prowess also features on the CD, as does the bass talent of Steve Kilbey. The album was mastered by Don Bartley in Sydney.

Travis said, “Having Fogsongs on board helping us as we launch our first album is a great support, and we’re really excited about it. It’s given me a chance to further concentrate on songwriting and gigging with the band as Marshall and Paul help look for new opportunities for us in new markets.”

Marshall Cullen MD of Fogsongs said, “Signing a Perth writer as talented as Travis adds the much needed WA location to our roster so that we now have writers signed in every state and Territory and as we are looking at strong US opportunities for The Woodenelves material I believe great things will come from our partnership – expect to see the boys on the East Coast sooner than you think.”

The album will be launched on May 12 at the Rosemount Hotel in Perth.
