Tuesday, December 19th, 2006Neko Case Touring Australia
Friday, December 15th, 2006
Neko Case, the modern day folk singer (and the soaring voice behind pop group the New Pornographers), is renowned for her beautiful alt country melodies.
Neko Case returns to Australian stages throughout January and February next year, to perform songs from her solo records.
The fourth and latest studio album from Case, ‘Fox Confessor Brings the Flood’, is lyrically reflective and self –assessing. The twelve songs on the dynamic release are playful and heartfelt and showcase her unique vocal talents. Her role as producer is profoundly felt, as styles, influences and sonic signatures from dozens of musical traditions thread through the new songs.
After leaving home at the age of 15, Case began her career as a drummer in punk rock bands The Del-Logs, The Propanes and Maow, and it wasn’t until the then 19 year old discovered an obscure spiritual album by Bessie Griffin and her Gospel Pearls, that she realized she wanted to sing.
“I was heavily into punk rock…but this record made me feel like, you know what, these people are singing about something they really care about. It’s like their voices are these crazy cannons or something, and they could just blow the shit out of their way with them. I wanted to be able to sing like that, because I thought that must’ve felt really good.”
And sing she can. After a long and ongoing role in The New Pornographers, Case began her solo career. In 1997 she released her debut album ‘The Virginian’, followed by the ‘Furnace Room Lullaby’ and ‘Blacklisted’, all praised by the critics.
2006 has been another big year for Neko Case, ‘Fox Confessor Brings the Flood’ is her best reviewed and highest selling record to date, she’s performed on The Late Show with David Letterman and has recently been nominated in 4 categories of New York’s PLUG Independent Music Awards, including Album of the Year and Female Artist of the Year.
Don’t miss Neko Case as she tours Australia with her band in January/February next year.

Birds Of Tokyo Announce National Tour
Friday, December 1st, 2006
As a band at their beginnings, Birds Of Tokyo are already ahead of their game. As ‘Off Kilter’, the new single from Birds of Tokyo’s debut album shows, that magical essence of greatness is right there, glittering and beckoning… and that’s but one song of many. With their debut album ‘Day One’ due for release in February next year, Birds of Tokyo are pleased to announce a national run of dates to coincide with the release of ‘Day One’.
Fronted by Ian Kenny - the bombastic singer known Australia-wide as the voice of Karnivool – Birds Of Tokyo are essentially a Frankenstein’s monster made up of individuals whose long-standing impact on the Perth music scene continues to be felt to this day. Not only as musicians and supporters of the ever-blossoming Perth music scene, but as producers and respected figures of what is now an emerging industry.
Even with an established fan base that has crossed over from Birds Of Tokyo’s Karnivool and Tragic Delicate connections, the sudden rush of popularity of the band has stunned even its members. Few bands generate such a groundswell so early on… and next-to-none do so without even trying. The massive initial success of Birds Of Tokyo has come from the punters… not the media.
‘Off Kilter’, the first single to be serviced to radio has been added to triple j and community radio across the country. The spine-chilling chorus may narrate a tale of the end, but for the band itself the song is a bold and promising beginning.
Don’t miss Birds of Tokyo on their Day One Album Tour.
Tickets for all shows on sale from Friday 15 December.
